...in which I talk about what I'm reading, what I've just read, what I can't wait to read. Basically, all things book!
Since my last installment, I've picked up a bunch of books and only read a couple of them because I've been really sick (still am, actually...it's not pretty). My head is pretty stuffed with the regular cold stuff (you know what I'm talking about) so my reviews won't exactly be in depth or anything.
A couple books that were on my to-be-bought list were the lastest ones from Aprilynne Pike and Michael Grant, Spells and Lies, respectively. I also bought Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready, White Cat by Holly Black, and The Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Ya, I bought a lot last week. It happens, right?
I also finished Burned by P.C. and Kristin Cast. This one is definitely my favourite book in the House of Night series. The ending, as per usual, left things open to interpretation, making the reader wonder about some key points. The next book in the series is called Awakened, and though there is no release date as of yet, I definitely can't wait for it to find out what will happen next in this story.
Overall rating: 4/5
I finished Spells within a couple of days, before I managed to get sick. As much as I liked Wings, Spells was SO MUCH better! It goes into more detail about Avalon (where the faeries live) and what Laurel needs to know to get by. I was a little upset and perplexed at the ending, though. Obviously there's something else going on that the reader as yet does not know, and my favourite character, Tamani, leaves to figure it out. Hopefully the next book in this series comes out sooner rather than later, as I love the story line in these books.
Overall rating: 5/5
I'm currently reading Lies, and it's taking me a while to get through it because I can only read a few chapters at a time before my cold takes over and makes me wanna curl up under a rock and do nothing. So far I'm liking it. I was trying to figure out what kinds of problems these poor kids had yet to face, and so I'm pleasantly surprised by this latest story line. I hear the next book will be called Plague, and well, that pretty much describes itself.
My mid-read rating: 3.5/5
That's about all for today, hopefully you guys are more healthy than I am right now, and can actually function properly. Until I'm at that point, I'll be in bed, trying to read.
I heard somewhere that the next House of Night book is coming out in October...
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong, but that seems to be ringing a bell.
Also I have fat eye today. I can't open my right eye...weird eh?
Aw I hope you feel better!
ReplyDeletePinkbilly- October seems about right. This series seems to have mulitple releases in a year (and I'm not complaining!) A fat eye definitely isn't good! Hopefully it's not pink eye :S
ReplyDeleteLeanne- Thanks! I find myself sleeping a lot, but I still feel crappy.
